As a product of local public schools -- both the Soquel Elementary School District and Soquel High -- I know the value of an education and of graduating from high school. I've witnessed first-hand the impacts that both graduation -- and, perhaps even more significantly, dropping out -- have had on generations of friends and family members throughout Santa Cruz County.

DA Gang Task Force Formed:

District Attorney Bob Lee has announced that his office is dedicated to fighting against the increasing incidents of gang violence in Santa Cruz. Outbreaks of gang-related shootings and stabbings are on the rise and many people, including gang members and innocent members of the public, have been killed or seriously injured. The District Attorney's Office gang unit has partnered with the Santa Cruz Police Department gang unit and the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office task force to combat gang violence in our community.

DA Fights Against Elder Abuse:

Santa Cruz Assistant District Attorney Kelly Walker is prominently featured in a video that was presented to Congress in an attempt to garner support for the Elder Justice Act.  A local Santa Cruz elder abuse case was one of 4 cases highlighted nationally in the video. Please view the just released Elder Justice Now! video here. The District Attorney's Office is committed to protecting the elderly in our community.

DA's Office Targets Sexual Predators:

The advent of the Internet has made it easier for sexual predators to prey on unsuspecting members of the public. The District Attorney's Office Sexual Assault Unit is dedicated to the prevention and prosecution of sexual assault crimes.
